SCENE QUEEN

On the 10th of May 2022 Scene Queen did her first concert across the pond for us in the UK her show was at the Boston Music Room.

Her first of two opening acts was Delilah Bon who is an extremely talented Rapper, Screamer and singer. She classes the music she makes as Brat-Punk with Hip Hop infuses, with 20,303 monthly listens on Spotify alone. She also had a DJ on stage with her, her name is Tasmin Taylor they vibes together so well on stage! I personally have never heard of her but she was mesmerising, making all of the audience hyped up from the outset.

After Delilah’s set she came into the audience to watch the rest of the show but during the break she got pictures with everyone and was super sweet!

Next I was introduced to Zand they are a non-binary artist who coined the term ugly pop to describe their sound and they get 216,293 monthly listens on Spotify alone. I have to admit it’s not something I would inherently listen to but their energy and the fact that they brought a dancer with a long Furby on stage definitely caught my eye. I especially loved their song ‘Slut Money’ . The whole crowd was hyped even though I didn’t know it, the chorus was so catchy by the second one I knew it.

Then it was time for the main event Scene Queen, the energy was immaculate it is what I called ‘The Gay Agenda’ being alive and well the amount of love for all things LGBTQ+ was incredible. Being a bisexual woman who has had it easy when it comes to living, I don’t have a single person in my life who has been homophobic towards me, I always see people who have it was worse but to see that being celebrated in this audience made me feel so proud.

Scene Queen for those of you who don’t know is an alternative singer songwriter who like Zand coined a term for her music she calls her music Bimbocore because she has always been in the Emo/Scene field but always got told she wasn’t a ‘real fan’ because she liked also dressing girly. Her song ‘Pink Rover’ went viral on TikTok because it spoke about woman being harassed by men, which many of us have experienced so it is very relatable, when she first posted a snippet on her TikTok it got a whopping 2.5m views, then her next Track Pink Panther got 2.7m views on her TikTok as well.

To say she has done amazing is an understatement, I have loved her music since seeing Pink Rover on my TikTok and seeing the first tour she has ever done being in the UK with ticket prices at only £13.25 I had to go and I’m so glad I did, from her entering to Barbie Girl by Aqua to her re-performing Pink Rover because she didn’t have any more music but wanted to do an encore it was a great experience. Not only that but I got to meet her afterwards as she didn’t hadn’t been told her merchandise didn’t arrive before the show.

If you ever get the opportunity to see any one I have mentioned perform live please take the opportunity to do so as it was such a great night and I met a bunch of new friends so when I said it was such an accepting audience I did truly mean it.
